Let’s find yours, together.
If your organization, program, or group serves Kahnawà:ke, Volunteer Kahnawà:ke can help you find volunteers. Tell us what you do and the kind of help you need, and a real person will connect you with community members who want to give their time.

Kahnawà:ke’s organizations have always run on people giving their time. Volunteer Kahnawà:ke is here to make that easier: one place where community members sign up to help, and one place where organizations like yours can ask for it.

Instead of recruiting on your own, you have one person to call who knows the community and knows your needs.

Tell us what you need, and the coordinator finds volunteers whose interests and availability fit.

In our 2024 consultation, 71% of organizations interviewed said volunteers would help fulfil their mission.
Ka'satstenhsera - many small hands become a strength no one has to carry alone.
If you serve the community, there’s a place for you, partnership isn’t limited to large organizations. When you register, you’ll tell us what kind of group you are.
Something else? Choose Other and tell us about yourselves, and we’ll talk it through. You’ll also choose from the same 12 causes and 50 kinds of help as our volunteers, so the match is easy to see.

Some organizations need a crowd for one day. Others need one steady person every week. When you post an opportunity, you tell us which kind it is.

A single event, fundraiser, or gathering that needs extra hands.

Help now and then, whenever something comes up.

Someone who comes back week after week and becomes part of your team.

Extra help during your busiest time of year.
Need someone at the last minute? You can mark an opportunity as short notice, and the coordinator will reach out to volunteers who’ve said they’re available on short notice.
Five steps, and Volunteer Kahnawà:ke is with you the whole way.
1Tell us about your organization, who to contact, how you use volunteers, and what keeps everyone safe.
2Once the program opens, the VK coordinator reaches out to talk through your registration, answer your questions, and make sure it’s a good fit on both sides.
3The coordinator confirms your organization as a Volunteer Kahnawà:ke partner, and you agree on what each side can expect.
4You receive your organization’s own link for posting volunteer opportunities, ready whenever you need help.
5Post an opportunity, and the coordinator connects you with volunteers who fit. You welcome them, then let us know how it went.

One point of contact who knows the community and your needs.
Volunteers matched to your causes, the help you need, and your schedule.
Volunteers who have met the coordinator and completed the agreements before their first placement with you.
Check-ins with both sides, so the match keeps working.
Have a named person greet volunteers, show them what to do, and be reachable while they are helping.
Give a clear picture of each task before it starts: what, where, when, and who to ask for.
Provide any orientation or safety information the task calls for.
Treat volunteers with respect, and let them say no to anything they are not comfortable with.
Let Volunteer Kahnawà:ke know how it went, including hours and anything that did not go well, so we can keep improving the match.Working with children, elders, or others who need extra care? The form asks, and the coordinator will talk through screening with you before any volunteer is placed.

No. Registering puts your organization on the list. You decide if and when to post an opportunity.
No. Registered charities, non-profits, grassroots groups, committees, schools, and community services can all register. If you’re not sure where you fit, choose Other on the form and we’ll talk it through.
Volunteer Kahnawà:ke is getting ready to launch. As the program opens up, someone from VK will reach out to talk through your registration. If anything changes in the meantime, email info@volunteerkahnawake.ca.
Once you’re a partner, you’ll use your organization’s own link to fill out a form: what the help is and which causes it serves, when and where it happens, how many volunteers you need and for how long, anything volunteers need (like a minimum age, skills, languages, or a background check), any supports you can offer, and when you need an answer.
No. Volunteer Kahnawà:ke adds to what you already have. The form asks how you use volunteers now, so we can help where it’s most useful.
The form asks whether your roles need one. The coordinator talks it through with you before any volunteer is placed with your organization.
Only if you say yes on the form. VK hasn’t published a partner list yet, and nothing will be shared publicly without that permission.
It stays with Volunteer Kahnawà:ke and is only used to connect you with volunteers. Your contact details may be shared with volunteers matched to your opportunities. You can ask to see it, update it, or have it removed at any time by emailing info@volunteerkahnawake.ca.

Let’s grow something together.
The form takes about ten minutes, and registering doesn’t commit you to anything. Your information stays with Volunteer Kahnawà:ke and is only used to connect you with volunteers.
